OctPoWriMo 7 - Hush

Today's prompt is silence. We were asked to turn all sound off and sit quietly for five minutes. My brain instantly went to songs and rhymes I knew about silence. I have linked to those below the poem, if you're interested.

Hush

Tell me how to start:
They might take your heart.
Now summer’s gone away
The colours fade to grey.
Hush

Tick tock the clock.
Though try, you cannot talk.
All the years they fly,
And everything must die.
Hush

What now shall we play?
They knock. Please go away.
What then shall we see?
Quickly, turn the key.
Hush

We laughed at fate now dead.
The answer must be said.
You scream unto the sky,
And no one will reply.
Hush

  1. I love poems that use any kind of refrain. And "hush" is so onomatopoetic!

  2. I agree with Cara! I really like this way of a poem with sound and imagery. Thanks!
